Trine Third in 2022-23 MIAA Commissioner's Cup Standings

HUDSONVILLE, Mich. – In the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Commissioner's Cup standings, Trine University finished third overall with 126 points. Hope College won their second consecutive MIAA Commissioner's Cup with 146.5 points and swept the men's (70) and women's (76.5) titles. Calvin University was between Hope and Trine with 139 points.

The MIAA Commissioner's Cup award is based on the cumulative performance of each member school in eighteen of the league's sports for men and women. The nine best MIAA sports on each of the men's and women's side go into the calculation for the MIAA Commissioner's Cup.

Trine's 2022-23 season was highlighted by three outright MIAA regular season titles and one shared title. The men's track and field program won both the indoor and outdoor championships, making it seven straight track and field championships for the Thunder. The Trine softball team won the MIAA regular season trophy outright for the first time since 2019 with a 15-1 mark in conference play. In women's basketball, the Thunder clinched a share of the MIAA regular season crown with the Flying Dutch.

On the men's side, Trine scored 65.5 points. Along with a pair of track and field championships, the Thunder also received points from second-place members in the standings from basketball and golf, as well as football, soccer and cross country who were all third in league tables. The women came away with 60.5 points, accumulated by a second-place finish from the women's soccer team and third-place finishes by the cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field programs.
