About Trine University

Founded in 1884 as Tri-State Normal College by the residents of Angola, Indiana, Trine University today serves more than 5,000 students on a beautifully transformed 450-acre campus and eight education centers throughout Indiana and Michigan.  Though Tri-State was established to train teachers, the college expanded into other areas and in 1902 launched its School of Engineering, recognized today as one of the finest undergraduate schools of engineering in the country. Tri-State reorganized and revised its name to Tri-State College in 1906, and attained university status in 1975.  In 2008, Tri-State was renamed Trine University in honor of trustees Drs. Ralph and Sheri Trine, to better define its mission and direction.

Trine has been recognized as the fastest-growing private college in Indiana over the past several years. Students are drawn to Trine by the success of its graduates, with more than 99 percent over the past several years employed or in graduate school within six months of commencement. Trine graduates are prepared for careers through hands-on experience with real-world projects through internships and co-ops, and personal guidance from caring, expert faculty. The university is consistently ranked among the Midwest’s best universities by U.S. News & World Report.

Attendance Policy Information:

We encourage all in attendance at Trine University Athletic events to wear a facemask, but it is not mandatory.  Face coverings are a critical part of preventing the transmission of COVID-19 and other illnesses. They not only reduce your chance of catching viruses, they greatly lessen the chance that you will spread any illness you may have to others. Let’s work together to minimize disruptions to classes and activities, and above all, Keep Trine Strong.
