ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine baseball team was defeated by NAIA-foe Davenport 19-3 Wednesday afternoon at Jannen Field.
Davenport's bats came out hot getting contributions up and down the lineup. The biggest contributor was E.J. Grochowalski who had a three RBI day with three hits. Adam Sullivan (Fort Wayne, Ind./Elmhurst) contributed to the Trine cause with two hits on the day for his fifth multi-hit game of the season. Drew Palmer (Hartford, Wisc./Hartford Union) came off the bench to collect two hits and an RBI. The hits were Palmer's first of his collegiate career. Trine falls to 9-14 overall. Davenport improves to 25-12 on the season.
The Panthers scored in seven of the game's nine-innings, including three runs to jump out in the first. Davenport put up a seven-spot in the fifth-innings. Tim Baratono drove in three runs as part of a three-hit day. Ryan Manning added four hits for DU.
Trine returns to MIAA-play this Saturday, Apr. 12 when they host Olivet at 1:00 p.m. at Jannen Field.
