ROYAL OAK, MICH. -- The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Trine first basemen Jordan Baer its Position Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Baer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Leo) hit .545 (6-for-11), homered and drove in seven RBI's to lead the Thunder to a weekend split of a series againt Olivet. Highlighting Baer's weeking was a 4-for-4 performance that included a grand slam and five RBI's in a 15-2 victory over the Comets. He also had two RBI's in a 7-5 loss in the nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader against OC. Baer, who is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career, also drew five walks for the week.
Baer leads the Thunder with a .333 batting average, .522 slugging percentage, two home runs and 15 RBI's. He is tied for third in the MIAA in homers and ranks fifth in the league in both slugging percentage and on-base percentage (.462). The junior has also stolen four bases.
Trine will take on Adrian in a MIAA-series this weekend. The Thunder will travel to Adrian Friday, with the Bulldogs returning to Angola to complete the series Saturday afternoon.
The Thunder are 11-16 overall and 6-10 in the MIAA.
