ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine baseball team fell to Adrian 7-1 in game one before game two was postponed due to weather Saturday afternoon at Jannen Field.
The impended rain postponed game two of this MIAA conference doubleheader. The Thunder honored eight seniors today at the doubleheader against Adrian College. Trine fell in game one 7-1. Trine is now 12-11 in MIAA play and 16-18 overall. Adrian is now 20-3 in MIAA play and 26-9 overall.
Jordan Frayer pitched all seven innings and earned the win for Adrian, allowing three hits. Frayer retired 12 Trine batters in a row, and improved his record to 4-2.
Drew Palmer (Hartford, Wis. / Hartford Union) scored an unearned run for the Thunder in the bottom of the second. Spencer Sutton (Chesterton, Ind. / Chesterton) was able to reach first on the play on an error.
Vinny Slobodecki (Carol Stream, Ill. / Glenbard North) of Trine was tagged with the loss, allowing eight hits and bringing his record to 3-4.
The score remained at 3-1 until the fifth inning, when the Bulldogs scored four runs, two off an error. At the top of the sixth inning, with a score of 7-1 in favor of Adrian, the Thunder brought Christian Jones (Poseyville, Ind. / North Posey) to the mound, and the remainder of the game passed with no additional runs for either team.
The Trine baseball team honored its senior class between games, including players Travis Bandt (Gaylord, Mich. / Gaylord), Sutton, Jake Kendall (New Castle, Ind. / New Castle), Zach Thorn (Portage, Ind. / Portage), Kory Shackle (Butler, Ohio / Mount Vernon), Mike Seaman (Liberty Township, Ohio / Lakota West), Brandon Mylcraine (Plainfield, Ind. / Plainfield), and Jake Weimer (Pittsboro, Ind. / Brownsburg).
Game two of the doubleheader has been rescheduled for Tuesday, May 3 at Jannen Field. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
