ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University men's ACHA D2 hockey team finished off the weekend sweep of visiting St. Norbert College today with an 8-0 victory.
On Friday, ten different members of the Thunder squad came up with at least one goal as the team cruised to a 12-1 victory. Senior defender Olli Jannson (Oulu, Finland) and sophomore defender Jeremy Briscoe (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the way for Trine as both finished the game with two goals.
In net senior Tyler Hough (Mount Airy, Md.) played the game for the Thunder, finishing with 13 saves while allowing just the one goal.
Today, the team once again spread the offense around with seven members coming away with a goal. Briscoe once again led the way finishing with two goals. Five other Thunder secured two-goal weekends with a goal in the game including forwards Braeden Pearl (Vankleek, Ontario), Tanner Bennett (Columbus, Ind.), Sean Schirripa (Bethlehem, Pa.), Christian Wirth-Karbler (Westland, Mich.) and Brandon Bornkamp (Fort Wayne, Ind.).
Sophomore Vinny Evans (Pittsburgh, Pa.) got the start in net for the Thunder and finished with an eight-save shutout.
Trine improves to 15-6 following the pair of victories. They will take the ice again Friday, Jan. 25 when they host Davenport University for a 7 p.m. contest.
