MEXICO CITY-- Trine's Gage Corner will participate in the Aztec Bowl this Saturday at Mexico City's Olympic Stadium.
Corner (Leo, Ind./Leo) is part of a USA All-American Eagles roster that travels to Mexico City for the XLII edition of Tazon Azteca. The game serves as a showcase for some of college football's best performers to compete in front of professional coaches and scouts. Corner is one of seven wide receivers on the roster. The game is sponsored by the All-American Bowl, the longest-running college all-star game for small college players.
The roster includes athletes from across all NCAA divisions, as well as NAIA and several indoor football performers. The team is coached by Augsburg College's Frank Haege. The coaching staff also includes coaches from the Canadian Football League, NCAA Division II and high school ranks.
Corner concluded his Thunder career as the school's all-time leader in receiving yards with 2,532 in his career. He set a school-record with 69 catches this past season, racking up 965 receiving yards on his way to All-MIAA First Team honors.
While at Trine, Corner earned two all-conference nods. He also finished his career as the program leader in receptions per game and ranks third in team history with 14 receiving touchdowns.
The Aztec Bowl is set to be played Saturday at Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City.
