ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine University men's basketball team has moved up to third place in the latest D3hoops.com poll.
The Thunder continued the season with three more victories this past week against Kalamazoo (Mich.) College, Alma (Mich.) College and Olivet (Mich.) College and improved to 12-0 on the year.
Junior Nick Bowman (Angola, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) continues to lead Trine, and the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association, in scoring at 24.1 points per game while shooting 60.1 percent (110-of-183) from the field. He is also the team leader in steals with 47 and ranks among the team leaders in rebounding (4.2 rebounds per game) and assists (36). Sophomore Brent Cox (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) is second in scoring at 12.8 ppg. and leads the team in rebounding with 5.1 boards per game. Junior Bryce Williams (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) rounds out the top three scorers with a 10.4 ppg. average and leads the squad in both three-pointers made (28) and attempts (64). He is also third in assists with 34.
In addition to the D3hoops.com poll, Trine ranks number one in the latest Massey rankings. The Massey Rankings were created by Kenneth Massey to provide objective team evaluation for professional, college, and high school sports. His college football ratings were a component of the Bowl Championship Series from 1999-2013.
Trine is scheduled to host Calvin (Mich.) University on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at the MTI Center. The MIAA contest is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
