ANGOLA, Ind.—The Trine men's golf team tied for second place in its first Michigan Intercollegiate Association jamboree of the year at the Zollner Golf Course.
The Thunder finished four over-288 and tied with Kalamazoo College. Hope College won the jamboree shooting even-284.
Trine freshman Grant Brettnacher (Brookton, Ind./Harrison) was the individual medalist shooting two under-69. Brettnacher shot one under on the first nine with two birdies on the last two holes. He was also one under on the back nine with a birdie on the par three eleventh hole.
Hope College finished with two players one under, including Winton Munch and Josh Gibson. Kalamazoo College's Travis Veenhuis also shot one under.
Also golfing for the Thunder was Grant McKay (72) (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado), Nick Knowlton (72) (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman), Joe LeSueur (75) (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) and Jordan Davidhizer (83) (Millersburg, Ind./Columbia City).
McKay, Knowlton and LeSueur each had two birdies apiece.
Trine will play in its second MIAA jamboree of the year on Tuesday at Olivet.
