KALAMAZOO, MICH. – The Trine men's golf team finished third in the fourth MIAA Jamboree of the season with a team score of 310 strokes.
Calvin College finished first in the event with 299 strokes, with Hope College coming in just one stroke behind them with 300 strokes.
Sophomore Grant Brettnacher (Brookton/Harrison) led the Thunder with 75 strokes which was good enough to finish tied for fifth as an individual. Both sophomore Grant McKay (Las Vegas, Nev./Coronado) and freshman Cameron Ruge (Coldwater, Mich./Coldwater) finished with 76 strokes on the day. Either Joe LeSueur (Northfield Center, Ohio/Trinity) or Todd Mieske (Owosso, Mich./Owosso) rounded out the scorecard for Trine as both finished with 83 strokes.
Sophomore Nick Knowlton (Bridgman, Mich./Bridgman) competed as an individual and finished with 80 strokes to tie for 17th on the day.
The Thunder will next compete in the two-day MIAA Championship which takes place on Friday/Saturday, Oct. 13/14 at the Battle Creek Country Club.
