ANGOLA, Ind. - In the opening game of Trine University's 19th annual Ketner Classic, the Thunder men's soccer team fell to Elmhurst (IL) 1-0. The loss drops the Thunder to 1-2-1 on the season.
Trine controlled the ball in the opening minutes as they attempted four of the game's first five shots. However, the Bluejays first shot on goal would be the only one that mattered as Austin Haas put home a deflection in front of the net at 31:10 of the first half.
The Thunder were unable to threaten in the second half as Elmhurst out-shot them 11-1.
Junior goalkeeper Chris Stewart (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) took the loss for the Thunder while making three saves.
Trine closes out the Ketner Classic tomorrow, Sept. 14 when they host Manchester University at 4 p.m.
