LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Trine men's soccer team battled Franklin to a scoreless draw in a neutral site, non-conference match Sunday afternoon at Pat Deacon Stadium.
Ian Jindrich (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley) made nine saves to earn his first shutout of the season for the Thunder. The shutout was the fifth of his career. Jindrich came up with two huge saves in the first overtime to keep things scoreless. The senior made a sprawling stop off a shot attempt, and then made another sprawling save off a header attempt on the ensuing corner kick.
Trine outshot Franklin by a 26-21 margin, including 7-4 during the OT periods. Bill Wilson (Mason, Mich. / Mason) and Brec Musselman (Noblesville, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) each had three shots on goal for the Thunder.
Jackson Shepherd made 10 saves to earn the shutout for the Grizzlies. Franklin is now 0-3-3 on the season.
The tie ends the non-conference portion of the schedule for Trine. The Thunder will carry an 0-3-2 mark into the MIAA opener Tuesday at Albion. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
