ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine men's soccer team has announced its 2017 schedule.

The Thunder open the season with three consecutive non-conference matches, the first two of which come at Transylvania University in Lexington, Ky. The season kicks off Saturday, Sep. 2 against Muskingum at 4 p.m. The meeting will be first all-time between the two schools. The following day, Trine takes on Berea (Ky.). The Thunder own a 4-0 win in the only meeting between the two programs, which came in 2012.

Non-conference play wraps up with a trip to Defiance Sep. 6. Trine and the Yellow Jackets battled to a 1-1 tie last season. The Thunder won the previous meeting in 2015.

The home-opener comes Wednesday, Sep. 13 in Trine's MIAA opener. The Thunder host defending MIAA champion and national runner-up Calvin in the conference opener. Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Jannen Field.

The conference schedule once again features two matches against every MIAA foe, including one at home and one on the road. Trine has a stretch of three consecutive home matches against league foes Kalamazoo, Hope and Adrian Sep. 23-30 as part of the MIAA slate. The regular season closes with home match against Alma Saturday, Oct. 28.

The Thunder will embark on its first season under new head coach David Jacobs, who was named to the position in December 2016. Jacobs most recently served as the head coach at Ancilla College, where he led the Chargers to a semifinal appearance in the NJCAA Men's Soccer National Tournament and an overall record of 18-2 last season.
