ANGOLA, IND.-- The Trine men's tennis team captured their second-consecutive win Saturday afternoon, edging Rose-Hulman 6-3 at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.
The Thunder had to rally back in singles play after falling behind 2-1 in doubles. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and Joe Dunbar (Indianapolis, Ind./Guerin Catholic) combined for an 8-3 victory in the no. 1 doubles court. Knust added a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory in no. 1 singles. The sophomore has now won six-consecutive singles matches. He is 11-2 in singles matches this season.
Joey Clark (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis), Nick Cassidy (Archbold, Ohio/Perrysburg), Nick Ihrie (Kendallville, Ind./East Noble) and Tyler Davis (Fort Wayne, Ind./Snider) each won in singles play for Trine to lock up the victory. Davis' victory was his first collegiate single win. Clark won his third-consecutive match.
Trine improves to 6-4 on the season with the win. The Thunder will return to action when they open MIAA-play Saturday, Mar. 29 at Kalamazoo.
