ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine men's tennis team picked up its second-consecutive sweep with a 9-0 victory over Rochester College Thursday at Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center.
All Thunder wins came in straight sets. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield), Joey Clark (Sturgis, Mich./Sturgis) and Spenser Gilbert (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Each player picked up their second-consecutive victories in singles play. Knust improved his personal record to 5-2, while Clark improved to 4-1. Gilbert improved to 2-1 on the year. With the victory, Trine evened its record at 4-4 overall. Rochester fell to 0-6.
Nick Cassidy (Archbold, Ohio/Perrysburg) picked up a win at no. 2 singles to even his season-record at 4-4. Freshmen Judson Quinn (Russiaville, Ind./Western) and Brian Zehner (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) each picked up their fourth victories of the season.
All three of Trine's doubles victories came by 8-1 scores. Knust/Cassidy and Quinn/Clark combined to get wins in the top two flights. The no. 3 pairing of Gilbert and Zehner has now won five-straight matches. The duo have a 7-1 record playing together this season.
Trine travels to Upland to face Taylor University this Saturday, Mar. 21 at 11 a.m.
