ANGOLA, Ind.—The Trine men's tennis team shut out Bethel College on Friday afternoon, 7-0, at the Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic and Recreation Center. With the win, the Thunder notched its fourth-straight victory.
The Thunder won all three doubles matches by 8-1 scores, before picking up singles victories at the No. 1, 2, 5 and 6 slots. With the team win secured, the singles matches at the No. 3 and 4 positions were not contested.
All four Trine singles' victories came by way of straight set wins. Caleb Knust (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield) and Spenser Gilbert (Elkhard, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) did not drop a single game, both winning 6-0, 6-0.
Trine improved to 6-4 with the win. Bethel falls to 2-13. Trine returns to action this Monday with a match at NAIA-foe Spring Arbor. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
