ALLENDALE, Mich.-- Trine men's track and field performers set two team indoor-records in Grand Valley State University's Big Meet Invite, held Friday night.
The 4 x 400 relay team set a new school-best mark by 2.35 seconds. Zach Markley (Winamac, Ind./Winamac), Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon), Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) and Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) combined to run a time of 3:18.62. The quartet of runners has set a new school-best mark in each of their last two meets. At the time of writing that mark would rank first in the nation in the event, per results submitted through TFRRS.
Leopold set a Trine indoor-record in the 800 M for the second time this season. The sophomore ran a time of 1:56.06 to beat the previous-best mark by 0.86 seconds. That time was 27th overall among a field that included NCAA Division I and II, and NAIA performers.
Trine will host the Jon and Carol Liechty Alumni Invitational Saturday, Feb. 21 in Keith E. Busse/Steel Dynamics Athletic Recreation Center. Alumni are encouraged to participate in the event. For more information on the Alumni meet, CLICK HERE.
