ADRIAN, Mich.-- The Trine men's track and field team placed third in the MIAA Jamboree, held Saturday at Adrian College.
Thunder performers notched four first-place and eight second-place finishes in the event. First-place performances included the 4-x-400-relay team, Tyler Bourdo (Plainwell, Mich./Delton-Kellogg) in the 400-meter dash, John Daniel (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) in the pole vault and Dakota Bagwell (Kokomo, Ind./Western) in the hammer throw. Trine performances earned the team 676 points. Hope won the MIAA Jamboree with 955.50 points.

Bourdo, Luke Fimreite (McCordsville, Ind./Mount Vernon), Jacob Leopold (Ottawa, Ohio/Ottawa-Glandorf) and Zach Markley (Winamac, Ind./Winamac) combined to run a time of 3:20.02 to win the 4-x-400-relay by three seconds.
Bourdo won the 400-meter dash in 48.92 seconds- the only sub-50 second time in the event. That time currently ranks ninth in the nation.
Bagwell's winning throw in the hammer throw was a new personal-best of 167 feet. He added a fourth-place finish in the shot put.
Daniel set a new personal-best on his way a 15 foot, 3 inch vault in the pole vault to finish first. Daniel also placed sixth in the 100-meter dash.
Sam Gilly (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) notched three second-place finishes and set a new personal-best in the javelin throw. Gilly placed second in the discus, shot put and hammer throw. He added a seventh-place finish in the javelin throw.
Jessie Dowell (Remington, Ind./Tri Junior-Senior) had a strong day in throwing events, placing second in the javelin and foruth in the discus.
Other second-place finishes in field events included Alex Hodges (Rochester Hills, Mich./Avondale) in the high jump and Logan Lindsley (Battle Creek, Mich./Quincy) in the long jump.
On the track, Leopold placed second in the 800-meter run with a season-best time. James Gregory (Warsaw, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) added a second-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles and placed third in the 400-meter hurdles.
Trine will compete in Grand Valley State University's Al Owens Classic next Saturday, April 18.
