FORT WAYNE, IND. -- Members of the Trine University men's track & field team competed at the unscored Circle Logistics Warrior Invite hosted by Indiana Tech in Fort Wayne, Ind.
In the running events, senior Patrick Richardville (Leo, Ind./Leo) was the top competitor in the 60-meter dash and ran a time of 7.02 seconds in the prelims, advancing to the semifinal round. He then posted a mark of 6.98 seconds in the semis (one one-hundredth of a second short of his own school record), falling just short of qualifying for the finals.
Richardville also competed in the 200-meter dash and finished eighth with a time of 22.48 seconds. Joining him in the event and placing in the top-20, were juniors Jasper Bassett (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb), Eric Townsend (Greenwood, Ind./Roncalli) and freshman Alex Sliter (Bryan, Ohio/Fairview). Bassett ran a time of 22.77 seconds to finish in 12th place and Townsend crossed the finish line in a time of 23.18 seconds which was the 16th fastest mark. Sliter posted a mark of 23.28 seconds to place 19th overall.
The Thunder had a pair of individuals finish in the top-10 with Bassett finishing sixth with a time of 49.85 seconds and freshman Austin Miller (Montpelier, Ohio/Monpelier) placing eighth at 51.26 seconds.
In the field events, freshman Seth Vorhees (Wapakoneta, Ohio/St. Mary's Memorial) finished in a tie for ninth in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5' 10.75".
In the pole vault, junior duo of Jacob Payne (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) and Ryan Haarer (Goshen, Ind./Northridge) competed in the event. Payne placed in a tie for third overall with a maximum height of 14' 9.00" (4.50m), while Haarer finished tied for fifth with a height of 14' 5.25" (4.40m).
The Trine men's track & field team will next compete on Saturday, Jan. 20 when it hosts the Keith Turner Alumni Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
