ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine women's basketball team has unveiled its regular-season schedule for the 2015-16 season, the team announced Wednesday.
The Thunder will face three NCAA Tournament participants and last-season's United State College Athletic Association's (USCAA) national runner-up as part of this year's schedule. Trine will face Baldwin Wallace in a neutral-site game at Anderson (Ind.) and will play home-and-away contests with conference foes Hope and Calvin. Trine will also have the opportunity to face Berea, a team that reached the Division-I national championship game of the 81-member USCAA last season.
The season tips off Sunday, Nov. 15 with a non-conference tilt against Franklin. The non-conference slate also includes home games against Anderson (Ind.) and Oberlin. Road trips include games at Heidelberg and Illinois Tech.
The Thunder will have the opportunity to play in two tournaments in non-conference play. In addition to facing Baldwin Wallace as part of tournament at Anderson (Ind.), the Thunder could also face the host-Ravens or North Park. The matchup with Berea comes at a tournament hosted by Wilmington (Ohio). The tournament field also includes Kenyon.
The MIAA season includes the traditional home-and-away matchups with each conference foe. This season, Trine has the fortune of having seven of its home league contests come on Saturday' afternoons. For the second-consecutive season however, the MIAA slate is backloaded with away games, as five of the last seven league contests come on the road.
Last season, the Thunder enjoyed one of the best single-season turnarounds in team history under first-year head coach Ryan Gould. Trine finished the season 15-10 overall and narrowly missed a conference tournament berth with a 9-7 league mark.
