MARSHALL, MICH.-- The Trine women's golf team placed fourth in the final round of the MIAA National Qualifier to finish third overall in the event, which concluded Monday at Medalist Golf Club.
Thunder golfers combined for a score of 362 in the final round, which was contested in tough, windy conditions. Amy Worthington (Logansport, Ind./Logansport) fired an 83 to finish fourth and lead the way for Trine in the final round. The performance gave Worthington the best average score for the Thunder in the tournament with an average of 87. Olivet received the automatic-qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III National Championships with a three-round score of 972.
Amanda McPherron (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) finished second among Trine golfers in the final round. Leisha Beutler (Lafayette, Ind./Jefferson) and Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio/Sylvania Northview) rounded out the top four for the Thunder.
The third-place finish ends Trine's season. The Thunder finished with a three-round score of 1068.
