ANGOLA, Ind.-- The Trine women's golf team placed sixth in the Trine University Spring Classic, held Friday on the links of Zollner Golf Course.
The Thunder and the rest of the field battled tough weather conditions that included snow and rain. Trine golfers managed to card a score of 349 (+61) on the day. Julia DeBelly (Sylvania, Ohio / Northview) shot an 85 to finish 13-over on the day. The junior finished even on 10 holes. She tied for 15th overall. Hope won the team title with a score of 322 (+34). Britni Geilow, Morgan Leep and Nicole Meyer all finished with 79s to top the individual leaderboard, with Meyer winning the tiebreak criteria for individual medalist honors.

Jaime Frost (Saint John, Ind. / Hanover Central) finished second among Thunder golfers as she carded an 87. The round was six strokes better than her season average entering play today. Frost recorded one birdie.
Ryleigh Gordon (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos) also beat her season-average with an 88. Gordon notched one birdie was well. Claire Barnett (North Manchester, Ind. / Manchester) rounded out Trine's top five with an 89 and also added a birdie.
Brooke Johnson (Crystal Lake, Ill. / Prairie Ridge) rounded out the A group of Thunder golfers. She notched one birdie.
Shannon Hicks (Marshall, Mich. / Marshall), Jordan Stevens (Brownstown, Ind. / Brownstown Central), Natalie Woodley (Grayling, Mich. / Grayling) and Amanda Pucher (Holly, Mich. / Holly) made up a B group of Trine golfers. The grouping was able to finish ahead of Robert Morris' team of golfers.
Trine returns to the links Friday, Apr. 15 at the Cleary University Spring Invitational in Howell, Mich.
