MARSHALL, MICH. -- The Trine University women's golf team wrapped up Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree event play and finished in a tie for fifth at the MIAA Jamboree #4 hosted by Olivet (Mich.) College at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Mich.
Senior Lyndsey Welper (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) and sophomore Jenna Doumont (Burlington, Ky./Villa Madonna Academy) led the Thunder and both finished in the top-10 with Welper posting an 18-hole score of 82 strokes and placed in a tie for seventh overall and Doumont tied for ninth after posting a round of 84 strokes.
Senior Mackenna Kelly (Angola, Ind./Angola) and junior Olivia Phillips (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) both carded scores of 91 strokes to round out the top-four individual scorers. Freshman Maire Sullivan (Plymouth, Mich./Plymouth) finished fifth on the team with a score of 99 strokes.
Trine had two players compete as individuals in freshman Lily Williamson (Colfax, Ind./Western Boone) and senior Morgan Barrasas (Hobart, Ind./Hobart). Williamson navigated the course with a final total of 90 strokes, while Barrasas fired a round of 110 strokes.
Trine will conclude the fall season with the two-day MIAA Championship that is scheduled to begin on Friday, Oct. 11. The championship will be played at Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek, Mich. with the first round slated to start at 1 p.m. on Friday.
