DE PERE, Wis. – The Trine University women's hockey team held a lead in the third period but came up short on the road against St. Norbert College by the score of 3-2.
The Green Knights struck quickly in the contest, scoring in just the second minute of play to take a 1-0 lead.
The Thunder would respond before the end of the period. In the tenth minute of play, junior Eryn Isaacson (Fenton, Mich.) received a pass from sophomore Devin Dzumaryk (Milford, Mich.) and made the most of it with a goal.
The 1-1 tie would last through both intermissions as neither team scored in the second period.
In the sixth minute of the final stanza, Trine took the lead for the first time. The goal came from sophomore Theresa DiMaggio (Shelby Township, Mich.) with an assist from classmate Brandi Wilson (Fenton, Mich.).
The 2-1 lead lasted just over six minutes before St. Norbert took advantage of a power-play opportunity to tie the game at two. They would then take back the lead in the 15th minute of the period. After five minutes of scoreless hockey, the 3-2 score would become the final.
Senior Molly Scarborough (Ramsey, Minn.) played in net for the Thunder and finished the contest with 19 saves.
Trine falls to 7-9-4 overall and 3-8-2 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play. They will face off with the Green Knights again tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 8. Opening puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m. CST.
