LISLE, Ill.—The Trine women's lacrosse team fell to Benedictine, 10-6, on Saturday afternoon on the road at the Sports Complex.
Trine moves to 1-2 overall this season, while the Eagles improved to 1-2.
The Thunder was within a goal after the first half, but Benedictine used a strong second half to get past Trine.
Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) was in goal for the Thunder making 16 saves. The Eagles' Hannah Smith had 10 saves earning the win.
Trine edged out Benedictine in draw controls, 10-6. The Eagles committed 40 fouls, while Trine had 24.
Rebecca Plantz (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) led the Thunder with 3 goals, while Laura Rosekrans (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) notched two. Bailey Brown (Sheridan, Ind./Westfield) added a goal.
Madison Horan paced the Eagles with four goals. Three players added two goals each.
Benedictine opened scoring six and a half minutes into the game with Emma Redfern scoring her first goal of the contest. Brown and Plantz answered with goals to give the Thunder a one-goal lead. Horan followed with two goals and Jasmine Moreno scored with a little over a minute left in the half to give the Eagles a 4-2 advantage. Plantz added her second goal with 26 left on the clock to bring the Thunder within a goal.
Rosekrans tied the game at four all a little over two minutes into the second half. Bennedictine followed with Redfern scoring her second goal to give the Eagles the lead they would keep for the rest of the game.
Trine continues road action on March 15 when it will play at Loras. The game begins at 6 p.m.
