DUBUQUE, Iowa—The Trine women's lacrosse team dropped a 13-5 contest at Loras on Wednesday afternoon.
The Thunder moved to 1-3 for the season, while Loras improved to 2-1.
Laura Rosekrans (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) led the Thunder offense with two goals, four shots and five ground balls. Bailey Brown (Sheridan, Ind./Westfield) notched a goal off five shots. Rebecca Plantz (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt) and Anne Mammel (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) also scored for the Thunder. Khrystyna Thompson (Fort Wayne, Ind./Blackhawk Christian) grabbed a team-high five ground balls. Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) recorded 18 saves for the Thunder in goal.
Olivia Flynn paced the Hawks offense with five goals off 11 shots and seven ground balls. Anna Schwalbe grabbed four goals and two assists. Ashley McGee earned the win with four saves.
Mammel gave the Thunder the lead under a minute and a half into the game scoring her sixth goal of the season unassisted. Flynn tied the contest with her first goal of the game less than two minutes later. Loras scored four more unanswered goals before Plantz scored unassisted for the Thunder and Brown followed with a goal off a free position shot. Loras added three more goals in the first to take an 8-3 lead into halftime.
The Hawks added five-straight goals to open the second half. Rosekrans notched back-to-back goals with a little under five minutes left for the final tallies of the game.
The Thunder will return home on March 24 when it will play host to Mt. St. Joseph for a 7 p.m. game.
