ALMA, Mich.—The Trine women's lacrosse team wrapped up its road schedule on Thursday night with a 14-9 loss at Alma.
Trine moves to 3-11 overall and 1-6 against the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. Alma improves to 8-7 and 2-5 in conference action.
Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis, Ind./Ben Davis) made 12 saves in net for the Thunder to total 187 on the season to set a new school record. Poteet ranks second in the nation in saves per game.
Senior Laura Rosekrans (Williamston, Mich./Williamston) notched five draw controls in the game to make 37 this season to also set a school record. Rosekrans also added five ground balls and with 47 on the season is tied for third in the team record books.
Senior Elena Gallego (Norwalk, Calif./Santa Fe) scored her 35th goal this season to sit in third in the school record books for goals in a season.
Alma scored the first two goals in the game before Gallego scored off a free position attempt.
The Scots went up 10-1 late in the half; Rosekrans added the Thunder's second goal with 44 seconds left in the half off a free position attempt.
After halftime, the Scots added another goal and junior Samantha Ihrie answered with one of her own.
Alma added two more goals before the Thunder went on a six-goal run. Bailey Brown (Sheridan, Ind./Westfield) scored three goals, Rosekrans and Ihrie added their seconds and Anne Mammel (Tecumseh, Mich./Tecumseh) scored.
The Thunder came within four goals, but couldn't fight its way back from its first half deficit. Trine outscored Alma 7-4 in the second.
Alma was led by Brianna Soriano with four goals, while Darby Kahler added three. Katie Rodgers and Olivia Benoit each had two goals. Allie Ray made eight saves in net to earn the win.
The Thunder return to action on Saturday, April 29 when they will play their final game of the season at 4 p.m. against Calvin.
