FREELAND, MICH. -- Trine University junior goalie Audrey Poteet (Indianapolis Ind. / Ben Davis) was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Defensive Athlete of the Week by the conference office.
Poteet's performance in goal was crucial in two tight contests this week, as the Thunder went 1-1. She finished the week with 31 saves.
On Wednesday, February 28, Trine picked up their first win of the season with a 6-5 win over Wilmington (Ohio) College. Poteet finished the game with 17 saves, including a few crucial late free positions attempts by the opposition. She also added five groundballs and a caused turnover in the contest.
On Saturday, March 3, the Thunder fell in their home opener 9-7. Poteet turned aside 14 shots in the contest and kept Trine in the contest. She also added six groundballs.
Trine will face off with Earlham College on Saturday, March 10, in their lone contest of the week. The away game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. EST.
