HANOVER, Ind. -- The Trine University women's lacrosse team fell to host Hanover College by the score of 10-5.
The Thunder came out strong in the contest scoring three goals in the first three minutes of play. Three different members of the team tallied a goal in the stretch as Trine took the early 3-0 lead.
Senior Lauren Hall (Hartford City, Ind. / Blackford) came up with the team's first goal with a free position shot just 87 seconds into the half. Sophomore Kirsten John (South Bend, Ind. / St. Joe's) and junior Lilly Dusek (Zionsville, Ind. / Zionsville) added goals over the next minute to finish off the streak.
For the next ten minutes, both teams went scoreless until the Panthers found their offensive rhythm scoring the final six goals of the first half.
Hanover added to their lead to begin the second half scoring the first three goals of the period to take a 9-3.
Hall and John both would score unassisted goals near the mid-point of the half to pull the Thunder back within four at 9-5. The Panthers then scored the final goal of the contest with just under seven minutes remaining in the contest to take the win 10-5.
Sophomore Emily Morthorst (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) finished the game in net for the Thunder with 10 saves.
Trine falls to 3-3 following the loss. They will return home to face Elmhurst College on Saturday, March 23 at 4 p.m.
