ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's wrestling team hosted the 2022 edition of the Trine University Invitational with multiple student-athletes competing at the event.
The top finisher for the team came in the 125 weight class. Shaun Pratt finished in fourth place at the event. He dropped his opening match, but bounced back with a victory by pin in the consolation bracket semifinal (Fall 7:00) to earn a spot in the third-place match. There he would be defeated by tech fall to finish the day in fourth.
Jett Boots was the other member of the team to place, finishing the 141 bracket in sixth. He opened the day with three straight wins. The first two would come by early pins, both before the third minute of those respective matches. In the quarterfinal he came up with a major decision (8-0) to earn a spot in the semifinal. After a hard-fought match he came up short to move to the consolation bracket. An injury sidelined Boots for the final two rounds giving him the sixth-place finish.
The team will next take the mats when they travel to the Baldwin Wallace Invitational. The event is set to start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 19.
