ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University women's soccer team came up short against visiting Kalamazoo College falling in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest by the score of 3-0.
The three Hornet goals all came in the middle portion of the match. The first came just minutes before the intermission giving Kalamazoo a 1-0 lead heading into the second half. They would add two more in the first ten minutes of the second period to build the lead to 3-0.
From there the Thunder were forced to play catchup and despite a few solid chances, they were unable to find the back of the net.
One of those chances came in the 73rd minute of the competition when freshman Jazlynn Davis (Fort Wayne, Ind. / R. Nelson Snider) received a pass inside the box and put her head to the ball, forcing a jumping save from the keeper.
The team's final quality chance at a goal came in the 89th minute with senior Morgan Sanderson (Leo, Ind. / Leo) putting a shot just over the top of the crossbar.
The Thunder fall to 3-6-1 overall and 0-3 in the MIAA following the loss, while Kalamazoo improves to 3-5-3 overall and 2-0-1 in conference play. Trine will continue their season when they travel to face Olivet College on Saturday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
