GOSHEN, IND.-- The Trine women's tennis team earned their third-straight win with a 6-3 victory over Goshen Thursday afternoon at the Goshen Tennis Complex.
The Thunder got four singles victories, all of them coming in the no. 3-6 flights. Lexi Mack (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) remained unbeaten at no. 3 singles, improving to 4-0 on the season with a pair of 6-4 victories. Freshman Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind.) won her third-consecutive match with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in the no. 6 court. Trine improved to 3-2 on the season with the victory. Goshen falls to 1-10 overall.
Marissa German (Plymouth, Ind./Plymouth) and Tarah Brennan (Allegan, Mich./Allegan) also improved their win-streaks to three with wins on the no. 4 and 5 singles courts respectively. German improved to 4-1 with 6-1, 6-2 victories, while Brennan improved to 3-2 with 6-2, 6-4 wins.
German teamed with Miranda Synesael (Williamsport, Ind./Seeger Memorial) for the 8-4 win at no. 2 doubles, while Hatkevich and Talia Terwiske (Jasper, Ind./Dubois) combined for the 8-1 win in the no. 3 court.
Anika Baumgartner and Noemi Salvador combined for all three Goshen points, teaming up for the no. 1 doubles victory and adding singles victories each.
Trine returns to action tomorrow when they make the short trip down to Fort Wayne to face St. Francis (IN) at 4 p.m.
