ANGOLA, IND. -- The Trine University women's tennis team came away with a decisive victory over visiting Olivet College by the score of 8-1.
The Thunder started off the match with a strong performance in the doubles portion of the competition, coming away with all three victories. In the No. 1 match, seniors Madison Hatkevich (Granger, Ind. / Edwardsburg) and Zoe Laubach (Niles, Mich. / Edwardsburg) came away with the victory by the score of 8-2. In the No. 2 match, senior Kinnsey Pass (Lafayette, Ind. / Jefferson) and freshman Andrea Jordan (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) also came away with an 8-2 victory. Sophomore Kyra Braun (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) and freshman Katie Simon (Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw) picked up the final win by the score of 8-1 in the No. 3 match.
Trine finished off the match by taking five of the six singles matches to come away with the 8-1 victory. Junior Theresa Magenheimer (Indianapolis, Ind. / Hamilton Heights) in the No. 4 match picked up the victory with scores of 6-1, 6-2. Laubach picked up the 6-2, 6-2 victory in the No. 2 match. Pass came away with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the No. 3 match. Braun won the No. 5 match 6-2, 6-0 and Simon took the No. 6 match 6-0, 6-1.
With the victory, the Thunder improve to 10-8 overall and 3-3 in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association. They will look for another victory when they travel to Calvin College on Saturday, April 21. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
