ORLANDO, Fla. -- After a tough loss yesterday, the Trine University women's tennis team picked up a convincing win against Emerson College by the score of 8-1.
The Thunder started the contest strong winning all three of the doubles matches. At No. 1, sophomores Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) came up with an 8-1 win. Trista Savage (Bryan, Ohio / Bryan) and Katie Simon (Paw Paw, Mich. / Paw Paw) won with the same score in the No. 3 match. Andrea Jordan (New Haven, Ind. / New Haven) and Eva Morales (Elkhart, Ind. / Elkhart Memorial) took the No. 2 match 8-0.
The team then put the gas down taking five of six singles matches. Spirrison and Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) took their matches, No. 1 and No. 2, in straight sets. Senior Kyra Braun (Portland, Ind. / Jay County) came up with a win in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-3, 6-4. Cole at No. 5 and Savage at No. 6 each won 6-1, 6-0.
Trine improves to 2-6 following the win. They will face off with Concordia University Moorhead tomorrow, Thursday, March 5. The match is set to start at 11:30 a.m.
