ALLENDALE, MICH.-- A new school-record and a couple personal-bests highlighted the performance of the Trine women's track and field team in the Al Owens Invitational, held Friday and Saturday at GVSU Track and Field Stadium.
The event featured performers from 27 schools representing all NCAA Divisions as well as junior college and NAIA. Trisha King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) set a new Trine outdoor-record in the 800 Meter Run. Her time of 2:13.69 was nearly a second and a half better than the second-place finisher. King finished ahead of numerous Division I and II runners to finish first overall in the event.
Sloan Davis (Charlotte, Mich./Olivet) and Kayla Johnson (Bronson, Mich./Bronson) each set new personal-bests in the Hammer Throw. Davis threw a distance of 106 feet, 6 inches, while Johnson added a throw of 105 feet, seven inches.
Jennifer Steyer (Missouri Valley, Iowa/Missouri Valley) finished just ahead of Davis and Johnson in the event with a throw of 109 feet, 2 inches.
The Trine track and field teams return to action Friday, Apr. 25 at the Hillsdale Gina Relays.
