DELAWARE, OHIO—Trine's Trisha King will compete for a national title in the 2014 NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships this weekend.
King (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) will compete in the 800-Meter Run. The junior previously earned All-American recognition for her performance in the Indoor Track and Field National Championships. The 2014 NCAA Division III Track and Field National Championships are being hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University at Selby Stadium/George Gauthier Track. Events begin Thursday, May 22.
King ran a Trine indoor-record time of 2:12.26 in qualifying for the 800-Meter Run at the Indoor National Championships, and followed that up with a fifth-place finish to earn All-American recognition. The junior was named First-Team All-MIAA for her performances in the conference's Field Day and Jamboree events.
King was named MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week after breaking Trine's outdoor record in the 800-Meter Run at the Al Owens Invitational. She most-recently topped that record at Grand Valley State University's Last Chance Meet. King was the MIAA's top performer in the 800-Meter Dash. She also set a school-record in the 1500-Meter Run this season.
Preliminaries for the 800-Meter Run will take place Friday night at 8:00 p.m. The finals of the event are scheduled to take place Saturday at 3:35 p.m.
