HILLSDALE, Mich.-- A school-record and a solid performance in the weight throw highlighted the performance of the Trine women's track and field team in day one of the Hillsdale Wide Track Classic.
Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) set a new school record in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash. The freshman broke the program-best mark for the second time this season, running a time of 8.42 seconds. Trine performers have set a new record in the event three times already this season. Garrow also ran a time of 27.73 seconds in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash.
Trine's one-two punch of Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind./DeKalb) and Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich./Lake Fenton) turned in another strong performance in the weight throw. Eck placed eighth with a throw of 53 feet, three inches. Steyer finished just behind with a toss of 50 feet, 6.25 inches to place 11th. No other Division III thrower was able to top 40 feet in the event.
Elsewhere, Trine was led by freshman Hannah Blystone's (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) 5:37 time in the Mile Run.
