HILLSDALE, Mich. -- Andrea Hagar set a new school record in the discus throw to highlight the efforts of Trine women's track and field performers competing in the Hillsdale Last Chance Meet.
Hagar (Goshen, Ind. / Fairfield) unleashed a toss of 42.69 meters (140 feet, 1 inch) to set a new program mark. The freshman beat her old personal-best by nearly four and a half meters. Hagar's throw is ranked 30th in the nation. She place fourth in the meet.
Kara Eck (Auburn, Ind. / DeKalb) notched a toss of 13.67 meters (44 feet, 10.25 inches) to set a new season best in the event. The performance moved Eck into a tie for 13th in the nation in the event. Eck is looking to solidify a bid to the national meet in the shot put and is a virtual lock for a bid in the hammer throw.
Jenn Steyer (Fenton, Mich. / Lake Fenton) launched a throw of 50.20 meters (164 feet, 8 inches) in the hammer throw. She placed third at the meet. Steyer's throw was just shy of her personal-best. The senior is ranked 23rd in the nation in the hammer throw as she seeks her first national bid in the final weeks of her senior season.
Trine performers will continue to look to solidify bids to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship over the course of the next nine days.
