ALLENDALE, MICH. -- The Trine University women's indoor track and field team traveled to Allendale, Mich. to compete in the Mike Lints Alumni Meet hosted by Grand Valley State University.
The Thunder finished with one team point to place 16th overall. NCAA Division I Eastern Michigan University came in first place with 168 points. Host school GVSU was second with 114.60 points and Hillsdale (Mich.) College rounded out the top three teams with 61.20 points.
Freshman Evonne Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) had the top individual performance for Trine in the running events with an eighth-place finish in the 800-meter run after posting a mark of 2:17.35. Junior Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) finshed just out of the top-20 in 21st place in a time of 2:25.70.
Bultemeyer also went on to finish in the top-20 with a 19th place effort in the one-mile run in a time of 5:08.75.
Seniors Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) and Lacie Piekarski (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake) finished back-to-back in the 5000-meter run with Binfet finishing 14th overall after running a time of 18:41.69 and Piekarski was 15th at 18:44.17.
Sophomore Jenna Gales (Mendon, Mich./Mendon) placed in the top-20 in the 400-meter dash event and crossed the finish line in a time of 1:01.01 which was good enough for 20th overall.
Freshman Abigail Kuhlman (Napoleon, Ohio/Napoleon) led the Thunder in the field events with an 11th-place finish in the long jump with a distance of 15' 11.00" (4.85 meters).
Freshman Jenny Flora (Greenfield, Ind./Greenfield Central) posted a top-20 mark in the shot put with a best toss of 35' 6.50" (10.83 meters) to place 18th overall.
Trine will host the two-day Don and Riley Zimmer Indoor Classic on Friday-Saturday, Feb. 2-3. The meet on Friday is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
