HILLSDALE, MICH. -- Members of the Trine University women's outdoor track & field team competed at the Gina Relays hosted by Hillsdale (Mich.) College in Hillsdale, Mich. and finished in a tie for 26th overall.
Trine had three competitors finish in the top-15 in the field events, including a pair of top-10 showings by junior Andrea Hagar (Goshen, Ind./Fairfield). Hagar recorded her highest finish of the day in the open hammer throw of eighth place following a best effort of 145' 3.00". She went on to finish ninth in the discus with a toss of 126' 5.00".
Freshman Kelsy Taylor (Louisville, Ky./New Albany) also finished in the top-15 in the discus alongside Hagar after a long toss of 115' 5.00" which was good enough for 15th place.
Highlighting the running events was a pair of top-10 finishes by senior Jensyn Garrow (Archbold, Ohio/Archbold) and sophomore Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead).
Garrow finished seventh in the open 400-meter dash with a time of 59.25 seconds. Bultemeyer competed in the championship 1500-meter run and placed eighth overall in a field comprised of athletes from all three NCAA Divisions (I, II, III) and NAIA. Bultemeyer completed the race in a time of 4:29.18 an improved upon her own school record that she set earlier this year.
Trine will next set its sights on the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Championship hosted by Hope (Mich.) College beginning on Thursday, May 2 in Holland, Mich. The day is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
