ANGOLA, IND. -- Junior Evie Bultemeyer (Fort Wayne, Ind./Homestead) and sophomore Valerie Obear (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern) have been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week.
Bultemeyer was tabbed the "Track of the Week" after winning the mile run in a time of 4:59.94 at the Snow Day Invitational hosted by North Central (Ill.) College this past weekend in Naperville, Ind. Her time in the event also currently ranks as the third fastest in NCAA Division III.
Obear finished third overall in the weight throw, also at the Snow Day Invite, after posting a best effort of 52' 11.00." Obear's mark is good enough for the top of the MIAA and 24th in the country.
The Trine track & field teams will next compete in the Mike Lints Alumni Open hosted by Grand Valley State (Mich.) University on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Allendale, Mich. The day is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
