Triathlon Competes at Collegiate Nationals

TEMPE, ARIZ.  --  Members of the Trine University women's triathlon team competed in the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championships hosted by Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.

The course, centered at Tempe Town Lake for the second straight year, featured a 750-meter swim, draft-legal 20-kilometer bike and 5-kilomter run. Races were separated by division for the first time, with DIII and collegiate club teams racing together in the first wave and DI and DII programs following in wave two. A record field of 96 student-athletes competed across all divisions.

Freshman Kyra Warren (Kendallville, Ind.) and junior Katie Kline (Kendallville, Ind.) were the two athletes to represent Trine.  Warren placed 23rd out of 30 competitors, while Kline finished two spots back in 25th.

Warren began the first leg of the race with a time of 16:21.7 in the swim and then posted a mark of 41:45.0 in the 20K bike portion.  Warren then had a time of 26:47.8 in the run portion to conclude the event.

Kline finished ahead of Warren in both the swim and bike portions with marks of 16:04.1 and 41:01.7, respectively.  Kline then ended the race with a mark of 28:44.0 in the run.

The Thunder wrap-up the 2018 season with the conclusion of today's national championship race.
