ALBION, Mich.—The Trine volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match at Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opponent Albion on Tuesday night.
The Thunder won the opening set 25-17, but the Britons rallied back to win the next three 25-21, 25-18 and 25-13.
In the first set, the Britons were up 15-8 before Trine outscored them eight to one to tie the set at 16 all. The Thunder charged on to a 25-18 victory.
In the second, Trine and Albion traded leads back and forth throughout the set. The two teams were tied 22 all before Albion took advantage of a few Trine errors and added an ace to seal the win.
Trine and Albion traded points back in forth early in the third set. They were deadlocked at 13 all before Albion sailed on to a 25-17 set win. Albion held an early lead in the fourth and went on to win 25-13.
Janaya Wilder (Decatur, Ind./Bellmont) led the Thunder with 10 kills and 15 digs. Morgan Harris (Crown Point, Ind./Merrilville) and Molly Smith (Angola, Ind./Angola) each added six. Raven Hood (Monroe, Mich./Airport) helped Trine with 14 assists and 13 digs. Shannon Scott (Vicksburg, Mich./Vicksburg) totaled five blocks, while Emma Lucas (Hamilton, Ind./Hamilton) had six.
Albion was led by Marie Pregenzer with 18 kills and Taylor Rosenthal with 12 kills. Ami Milligan had a match-high 46 assists. Monica Shuk added a match-high 21 digs.
The Thunder will wrap up its season on Saturday when it plays host to Saint Mary's for a 1 p.m. match.
