GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Hope College was too much for the Trine University women's volleyball team as they bowed out of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Volleyball Tournament following a 3-0 loss.

The Thunder came out strong in the opening set taking the first four points of the contest. They eventually built the lead to five all the way until the 14-9 mark of the set. From there the Flying Dutch found a groove and took the next ten points to pull ahead to a five-point lead of their own. Trine was unable to comeback falling in the set 25-18.

The second set saw Hope hold onto the momentum leading from start to finish for a 25-11 win. Then in the third, the Thunder held close for the majority of the set, remaining within two deep into the set trailing 17-15. From there the Flying Dutch pulled away taking the set 25-17 and the match 3-0.

Junior Madison Munger (Indianapolis, Ind. / Franklin Central) led the offensive effort for the Thunder ending the contest with 12 kills. She ends the season with 541 kills, a Trine single-season record during its time in the NCAA. She also ends having averaged 4.47 kills per set which comes in second for the program in the same period.

Fellow junior Jacqueline Baughman (Lake Orion, Mich. / Lutheran Northwest) finished the contest with a team-high 19 assists. That brings her season total to 1,101 breaking the single-season record by a single assist.

The Thunder finish the season 18-13 after the loss. The finish is the team's best since the 2014 season.
