WEST LAFAYETTE, IND.-- The Trine women's cross country team placed 13th in the Indiana Intercollegiate Championship, held Friday and hosted by Purdue University.
The top five Thunder runners earned the team 376 points in the Little States division of the race. Courtney Forsythe (West Mansfield, Ohio/Benjamin Logan) turned in Trine's best time on the three-mile course, finishing in 20:10. The junior averaged a 6:43 mile. Kelsey Ortiz (Swanton, Ohio/Anthony Wayne) finished just behind at 20:14. The Thunder also placed 13th in last season's race. The Little States division featured 148 runners representing 20 schools from NCAA Division II, III and NAIA.
Freshman Heather Richardson (Fort Wayne, Ind./South Side) finished third among Trine runners, coming in at 20:23. Fellow freshman Kyla Binfet (West Yellowstone, Mont./West Yellowstone) came in at 20:53. Rounding out Trine's top five was Kelli Hogenkamp (Coldwater, Ohio/Coldwater), who turned in a time of 23:40.
