Both NCAA Hockey Teams Looking for NCHA Playoff Berths

ANGOLA, Ind. – In just their second seasons of existence both the men's and women's NCAA hockey teams at Trine University have a chance to make their first appearances in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) postseason play.

Entering their final week of competition the men's hockey team needs help but still has a chance of earning a berth in the NCHA Harris Cup Playoffs as the four-seed. They begin the weekend by traveling to face the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on Friday, Feb. 8 for a 7:05 p.m. CST game. On Saturday, Feb. 9 they take on Concordia University Wisconsin at 4 p.m. CST.

The Thunder need to win both of those games and have MSOE lose their other game of the weekend to finish fourth in the NCHA South Division and earn their first berth to the Harris Cup.

On the women's side, there are four games remaining in regular season play. The Thunder can finish the regular season as high as third in the standings but would need help to do so.

This weekend the team hosts Northland College for a pair of games, the first coming on Friday, Feb. 8 at 7 p.m. EST. There are several scenarios for the Thunder to clinch a spot in the six-team NCHA Slaats Cup Playoffs this weekend. The easiest way is by winning both games against the LumberJills.
