NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the 2022 edition of their NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-Region honors with Trine University represented in the Great Lakes Region by eight student-athletes in fifteen different events.
The total gives the team the second most All-Region student-athletes among Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) just behind Albion College, which had two relay teams earn the honor. Trine had three women over nine events and five men over six events.
The women were highlighted by senior Evie Miller (Fort Wayne, Ind. / Homestead) who earned All-Region status in five events this season including the 800-meter, 1500-meter, 5000-meter and 10,000-meter races along with the Steeplechase. Classmate Valerie Obear (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) earned honors in both discus and hammer throws. Sophomore Haley Livingston (Fort Worth, Texas / Everman) rounded out the group in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump.
On the men's side junior Jake Gladieux (Oregon, Ohio / Whitmer) was the team's lone student-athlete to earn multiple honors coming in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. Joining him wer seniors Noah McClellan (Schererville, Ind. / Lake Central) in the javelin, Theodore Samra (Lansing, Mich. / DeWitt) in the hammer and Greysen Spohn (Peru, Ind. / Peru) in the high jump and junior Ben Williams (Farmington Hills, Mich. / Harrison) in the long jump.
The top five individuals in each event from a region earned All-Region honors in addition to each of the members of the top three ranked relay teams. To see the full list of USTFCCCA All-Region athletes visit the organization's official release.
