Trine University Inducts Jared Holmquist into Athletic Hall of Fame

ANGOLA, Ind. -- Every year during Homecoming, Trine University Athletics inducts a new class to the Athletic Hall of Fame including former student-athletes, teams, coaches and administrators that have made significant contributions to Thunder Athletics, on or off the field.

This year, three individuals will join the ranks of the Hall of Fame as members of the Class of 2022. During the week we will highlight the accomplishments of each inductee.On September 30, 2022, Jared Holmquist will be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the men's basketball team. 

A Trine University 2016 graduate, Jared Holmquist played basketball for the Thunder under men's basketball head coach Brooks Miller. He was the 42nd player in program history to cross the 1,000-point plateau and currently sits 10th in program history with 1,538 career points. After his senior season, Jared received the 2016 Robert L. Greim Award for Top Male Student-Athlete.

At the national level, Jared was a SmallCollegeHoops.com NCAA DIII Player of the Month and on the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week in November 2015. The team reached the MIAA tournament during all four of Jared's seasons and advanced to the championship game in 2016. He was named First Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons and Conference Player of the Week five times in his career.

As an individual, Jared is among the top five in school history in rebounding with 749 career boards, blocked shots with 108, free throws made with 403 as well as games started with 101 and minutes played with 3,202.

In the classroom, Jared was named Capital One Academic All-American Player of the Year in 2016 and was an honoree on the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, was recognized on the President's List and was named to the MIAA Honor Roll while at Trine.

Outside of athletics, Jared volunteered at the Steuben County Humane Shelter and YMCA Challenger Basketball Program.

Members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2022 will also be honored during halftime of the homecoming football game against Alma College on Saturday, October 1.
