MIAA Fall Tournament Information

ANGOLA, Ind. – Multiple Trine University athletic programs will be in action this week for Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) postseason events. On Tuesday, November 1, the men's soccer and women's volleyball teams compete on the road, while the women's soccer team is at home for their tournament match on Wednesday, November 2.

All those wishing to attend any of the MIAA postseason matches must purchase a ticket online through the MIAA's Ticketing Portal. Trine University strongly suggests purchasing your tickets ahead of the game and bringing either a digital or print copy of your ticket to the gate.

After compiling a 6-1 home win against Olivet in the MIAA First Round match, the men's soccer team will make the road trip to the number two seeded Hope College Flying Dutch for their Semifinal Round contest. Junior Tyler Murphy scored four goals in the first-round matchup, tying the program's all-time record and setting a new MIAA Tournament record. In the two team's regular season meeting, the Thunder and Flying Dutch tied at 1-1. Kick-off at Van Andel Soccer Stadium is at 6 pm.

The women's volleyball team competes at Adrian College in the MIAA First Round match beginning at 7 pm. Trine enters the MIAA Tournament as the number five seed with a 12-10 overall record and 4-4 in conference play. The two teams met to start the conference slate, where the Bulldogs were winners 3-1 over the Thunder on September 20. Last week, Trine won back-to-back matches against Alma College and Olivet College to finish the regular season.

For the second straight year, the women's soccer team will host an MIAA Tournament contest. The game will be played on Shive Field inside Zollner Stadium against Hope College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thunder finished second during the MIAA regular season earning a first-round bye in the tournament and moving directly to the semifinals of the event. The third-seeded Flying Dutch advanced on Saturday with a 1-0 victory in double overtime over Kalamazoo College.

During the regular season matchup between the two teams the game ended in a 1-1 draw. After giving up a first half goal to the visiting Hope squad, the Thunder secured the point with a late goal of their own. Freshman Abby Robison scored the game-tying goal.
