ADRIAN, Mich. – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team would outscore their hosts from Adrian College in the team event and post solid scores throughout the contest, but would fall in the match by a total score of 244.625 to 234.335.
The Thunder would start the day with three solid scores during the compulsory event, but were still outscored in all four heats. Their best score came in the pyramid heat where they earned a score of 9.20. They would also earn a score of 8.45 in the toss heat and a 7.85 in the acro heat. Overall the event went to the Bulldogs 35.50 to 31.65.
The acro event would go much the same way, with Trine scoring well in all three heats but falling in the event. The team would score a 9.10 for its best score in the second heat, with an 8.55 in the third heat and an 8.45 in the first heat. Overall the heat went to Adrian 28.15 to 26.10.
The Thunder picked up their fist heat victory in the pyramid event. They would win the first heat with a score of 9.45 to 9.10. They then posted an 8.80 in the second heat and an 8.90 in the third heat to fall just short of the home team 27.40 to 27.15 in the event.
Trine struggled a bit coming out of halftime during the toss event. Their best score of the event was in the first heat with a 7.80. Adrian would win the event 24.90 to 22.05. The team would be outscored again in the toss event, this time 46.275 to 42.625. Their best score would come in the final pass where they posted an 8.20.
The Thunder saved their best for last winning the team event with a score of 84.76 to 82.40, cutting into the match deficit. It wasn't enough to secure a victory thought and the team would fall in the match 244.625 to 234.335.
Trine falls to 2-6 following the loss. They will advance to the consolation match of the 2022 NCATA Division III Invitational against Stevenson University. The match is scheduled to follow the Event Finals tomorrow, Sunday, April 23 and is set to start at 2 p.m.
